The number of customers whose insurance claims are underpaid by more than $300 has reached record highs, according to a Walmart spokesperson.
The company said in a statement that it is working with the Department of Labor to provide a more accurate breakdown of the numbers.
The Walmart spokesperson noted that some of the customers have been notified of their claim payments, and that Walmart is working to reduce the underpayment rate as much as possible.
The spokesperson said Walmart’s accident insurance program is designed to help cover costs associated with the potential loss of a vehicle.
Walmart’s statement comes as the company faces a recall over its recall of a defective product.
The faulty product has been linked to about 100 deaths in the U.S. and Canada, according a recent report by the Government Accountability Office.
