In a nod to his work in the new film, James Franco is set to star in a new film about a lost city of Z in Africa, The LOST CITY OF Z. The film, which opens on May 31, will be directed by the Oscar-nominated filmmaker and is set in the year 2025.
“I have always been fascinated by the African people and what they go through, and I’m particularly fascinated by this city of the Lost City, Z, which is a forgotten city in Africa,” Franco said in a statement.
“This is the story of a small African city where everything was destroyed, but people survived, and there are stories about the people who lived in Z. This film is going to be an extraordinary journey of exploration of the meaning of survival, and the role that we all play in shaping our destiny.”
The film will follow the characters of two teenagers who go to Z after a tornado leaves them with no way of getting home, but also explore the legacy of a man who lost his wife and three sons.
“The Lost City” tells the story about the journey of two teens, who decide to find their way home after a deadly tornado strikes Z, the capital of the region, on May 21, 2025.
It stars Benicio del Toro, Michelle Monaghan, Jessica Chastain, James Marsden, Michael B. Jordan, Dolph Lundgren, Zoe Saldana, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
The LOVELAND franchise also starred Channing Tatum, and will be released in theaters in 2019.

“We are very excited to announce that we are starting production on a brand new series of MTV Movie and TV Shows for 2019,” he said.
“Our original pilot for the new series, entitled ‘MTV Movie and MTV TV Show,’ is based on the most popular MTV Movie series, ‘The LOVETOWN OF Z,'” he continued.
“With this series, we’re expanding on our signature storytelling and bringing it to an even bigger audience.
The series will also explore themes of family, friendship, and community.
MTV Movie’s ‘MVMTZ’ is a weekly reality series that explores the intersection of culture, music, and politics, exploring the intersections of culture and politics that are woven into the fabric of our lives.
The show was created by and produced by MTV Networks and will air on MTV.
The project will premiere in late 2019.
The Lost Cities of Z has also been adapted into a film titled The Lost World of Z. It will be available to view on May 12, 2019.
